The Rendezvous was originally the site of the Mountainside Liquor Store, a well-established Fort Davis fixture, owned and operated by the Reinberg family. Mountainside was more than a liquor store – it also served as a small grocery and was a daily gathering place for local school kids. Children from the elementary school just down the alley would stop in for lunch, hot dogs, pizza, nachos, soft drinks, and other favorites.

The current owner, Mark Fillman, met his future wife, Irene, at the Mountainside store in 2002, where she worked. Mark claims he purchased more Jack Daniel’s than he could ever drink in a lifetime, just to have an excuse to stop by. His plan worked. They were married in 2006 and later moved to Houston, where they still maintain a home.

After selling their oilfield business in 2019, Mark hatched a plan to transform Mountainside Liquor into a music venue featuring a bar, pickleball court, and pizzeria. That vision became reality with the opening of The Rendezvous in June 2025. To honor the original store, one of our most popular pizzas is named The Mountainside.

Whether the name has anything to do with its popularity or not, it serves as a constant reminder of the place where generations of kids and adults grew up stopping in, gathering, and doing business.
